Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

Democracy is messy. When we have 40 people in a room, we get 40 opinions, 40 strategies, 40 ideas, directions, commitments. It's a lot easier to have a dictator tell everyone what to think, say and do. We're not there yet. But while we think about a longer term future, a United States of America for the next century, we still need to live today and deal with the things that are happening today.

We are not alone. A little action is better than no action. Here are a few organizations you might find helpful. Remember to pick your key issues and put your energies into those.

  • Indivisibles:  I recommend the Indivisible Guide, a practical, step by step process for making Congress listen. You can also find Indivisible groups in your area.
  • Move On: Democracy in action. National and local strategies.
  • League of Women Voters. Making Democracy Work. National and local strategies.

Organize/Participate

Silence is not an option

February 16, 2017

People are finding ways to speak out. Some have joined organizations that are experts at galvanizing their members to take simple actions which have huge impacts. Some organizations plan marches, boycotts, or advertising campaigns. Some are focusing on future elections or specific issues like the environment, health, etc.

One of our challenges is to set aside our differences and create a united effort to address the threat to our democratic principles occasioned by the rise of this president backed by White Supremacists, Nationalists groups.
